SAFIR presented at the Mobility Day of Ingolstadt

At 30 degrees in the shadow, the Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (THI) took part in the Mobility Day of Ingolstadt and showed full commitment. Last Saturday, 15 July, SAFIR programme coordinator Camila Heller and project leader Prof. Ondrej Vaculin presented the research vehicle "ANTON" to the citizens in the city centre.

Together with their colleagues from AININ (Artificial Intelligence Network Ingolstadt gGmbH), IFG and the transformation network transform.10, the experts had a direct exchange with the people of Ingolstadt to give them an understanding of the mobility projects of tomorrow. The visitors thus gained exciting insights into future-oriented mobility concepts.

In the period from August 2020 to October 2022, the ANTON research project was carried out as part of the SAFIR project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The primary objective of ANTON was to develop an experimental platform for exploring and testing connected and automated driving functions. For this purpose, the Renault Twizy was used as a production vehicle and equipped with longitudinal and lateral drive-by-wire, an open software interface, car-to-x communication functions and flexible sensor mounts. The project finally achieved an important milestone by obtaining a nationwide exemption for the vehicle to be used on the road. As a result, the developed driving functions were validated in simulations as well as in real road traffic and could be successfully tested.
